A primary purpose of this book is to show how Banksy the phenomenon is so much bigger than the bourgeois concerns which characterize art. Banksy is political. He is above all a provocateur, a polemicist, a man using public walls to send searing messages opposing the hypocrisy, corruption and ghastliness which the political establishment has created. We hope this volume serves to illustrate his mould-breaking methodology and techniques.
